Flight Training:
To receive the Type Rating, the applicant must be Multi-engine - instrument
rated. First Officer training does not require the MEI. An applicant with
Private, Commercial or ATP license is qualified to obtain the Type Rating.
The flight training course
is normally completed with 7 hours of instruction. Some take longer, others take
less time. We do not guarantee the amount of time that a student will take to
complete the flight training. Our responsibility is to make sure that the
applicant learns to fly the DC-3 and not just obtain a 'paper' type rating.
Check
Ride:
The check ride is approximately 2-2.5 hours. The requirements are the same as
for any other Type Rating or ATP check ride. The procedures are set forth in the
FAA publication FAA-S-8081-5C Practical Test Standards. The examiner will either
be an FAA examiner or a DPE. The examiner fee is paid by the applicant. The fee
is normally $500 plus expenses (travel, overnight lodging and food which can
cost approximately $250-350).
